My opinions

-Thick skin
-Hard to peel
-Little gritty
-Not super sweet

-Only minor disease issues in over 40 years observing
-Usually has some fruit escape early cold weather.
-Not super sweet but picked at the right time it gets sweet enough
-Early to start fruiting
-Good for making pear preserves

Very accurate description. I have a dozen trees each of this class of pears orient, improved kieffer, and kieffer. I experiment with other southern pears and even grow a branch of ts hardy. We will never starve with those planted.

Most of my Asian pears produce reliable, massive crops. That is a big +!

As a con, if you don’t spray, some fruit may have small, calcified defects that can break your teeth if you bite into them.
