So I was reading through all the pesticides I already have to see what would be best for my trees and I noticed that Ortho bug b gon is only listed for pears. Anyone know why? It’s .3% bifenthrin and .075% zeta-cypermethrin.

I’ve used it on raspberry for horntail wasp with good results.
It’s the bifenthrin component. For some reason it only has a label in the U.S. for pears, caneberries, bushberries, citrus, tomatoes and mayhaw in terms of fruit. Sold as Fanfare or Brigade.
Interestingly it is listed for stone fruits (except for cherries) in Australia, so I doubt the reason it’s not labeled for those crops in the U.S. is due to risk of damage to the trees or fruit (except cherries, which can be more reactive to some insecticides - especially sweet cherries).
It also appears to be used on apples before bloom in Australia, even though I couldn’t find a label for it on apples.
Thanks for that. I kind of figured it was more a “red tape” issue than an actual would harm the fruit or tree.
