don’t mean to rub it in but i just picked-up my car rental and booked airbbs for my longggg drive west to … the Fifth International Pawpaw Conference and then, the Ohio Pawpaw fest on the way home! a week of Pawpaw geeking – OMG my head is about to explode! 
Just today i showed my neighbor’s yard maintenance guy Pawpaw in the tree. he’s from like, Slovania and says, “it’s a potato in the tree!”. i’m semi-immigrant (the one child born in the States) and said, that’s our people – everything is a potato :). then i searched for PERFECT ones and filled his hands with 4-5 fruit. i broke one open – it was on the ground and perfect too. the wonderful smell caught his attention. he named about a half-dozen fruit smells, in an attempt to identify the smell.

Ahh, I went to Ohio University for grad school, and it brings back memories of buying pawpaw purée and making margaritas, drinking pawpaw beer, and having pawpaw-flavored Mexican food at Casa Nueva. Jealous!!

@lmvian – nice work transforming your 5-acre lawn into food forest. when i travel across country, i ALWAYS wondered why folks have such giant lawns – sooooo perfectly manicured – and no damn fruit trees. that’s English!.
