Peach damage identification

A few photos, only three branches were affected, I’ve removed them 6-12" below any damage. In North central KY, third leaf in ground, haven’t sprayed anything. I don’t plan on spraying either, if we can’t grow peaches here then I won’t bother. Been cooler and wetter than most years here. Any info is appreciated. Thank you.

Likely the first sign of shoot tips got damaged by Oriental Fruit Moth (OFM). If you don’t do anything, those shoot tips will turn black and died. Only the tips, not the branches or the tree. Sometimes when you cut a bit off those tips, you may see OFM worms in them.

Look up OFM. They do more damage to fruit that shoots.

No spray will be impossible to grow stone fruit.

It looks to me like the bark has been affected. Look how the color changes rapidly from green to brown at a distinct line. This is all new growth so it should be green like the rest of the trees.

I grew no spray peaches for 7 or 8 years here in southern TN with no problems… (starting in 2003)… then the OFM showed up… then the brown rot showed up…

Then I quit growing peaches.

While the tips definitely look like classic ofm damage, it’s way too early for me in Ohio to see. And that brown dried out appearance of new growth seems to be more of the culprit. My guess would be something other than ofm, but no idea what. I’ve never seen something like that before. All that being said, no spray peaches are impossible for me. However, I have been able to keep it organic for now.
