Peach tree wilting disease?

My potted peach tree is not looking great after coming out of dormancy. Any idea what’s going on here? I sprayed copper over the dormant season and it does not look like peach curl.

Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Just had this tree for 2 years so would like to keep it alive!

Root problems?

Thanks, that’s super helpful, so sounds like it might be some root rot issues… Anything I can do for it now ? Try and dig it up and replant?

Though I don’t have any peach trees, some of my plants didn’t handle the recent 24F overnight too well. All of their tender young leaves and flowers shriveled up. I noticed you’re nearby my area so could it be cold damage?

Taphrina deformans. Kräuselkrankheit. Copper before/ at bud-swelling. I sprayed but my peach has caught it too… :frowning:

Yea, I am going to dig it up after work today and see if I can save the tree by pruning any roots that look bad and doing a hydrogen peroxide dunk. Not sure it will save it but it’ll be worth a try.

I had the same exact thing happen to my apricot tree. I am hesitant to label this as a root problem because growing right beside the apricot tree is a nectaplum tree that is thriving. Both trees are on citation rootstock, get the same exact amount of water, sunlight and fertilizer.

This issue is also happening out front where I have an ornamental cherry and a peach planted next to each other. The peach shows no problems whatsoever, while the ornamental cherry has several branches die. Just like with the apricot the blossoms fall off and the leaves wilt and shrivel.

Given the evidence, I find it likely that these trees have a systemic disease. I suppose that disease could be impacting the roots, though I doubt it has anything to do with soil parameters like drainage or nutrients.

I have a couple stone fruit trees that have the same problem and we haven’t dropped below freezing since February before the trees left dormancy.

This isn’t peach leaf curl. I have a couple stone fruits with a similar affliction and it is a distinct pathology unlike taphrina deformans.

I dug up the tree roots looked fine until I inspected closer. There are black halls on some of the roots.

Crown gall?

I’m going to dig down around my apricot trunk to see if I can spot any of these on its roots. I wonder if treating is worth it? Probably cheaper to just get a new one.

Yea, it seems like crown gall. If this was not a potted plant I would have killed it off. Even right now I pruned off the roots that looked affected and I think it will still succumb eventually from what I read. I got this and another mini nectarine from rain tree nursery and I think that one also is wilting the same way. Lovell rootstocks on both. Maybe the end of the mini peach/nectarine saga for me.
