Here in the Rhine Valley near Cologne in Germany, I grow espalier Conference and Williams Bon Chretien pears, They produce very good crops despite some fireblight in hot dry summers (Zone 7 Min 14˚F Max 35˚F).

You are lucky to have drier climate. Much less disease issues than we have here in eastern coastal USA.

I saw pears grown in a parking lot and some streets around Rothenburg. No care needed. Clean fruit. Very impressive.
