Young Pecan tree purchased this year, now (April 2024) has a hundred little projections of something being pushed from the bark.

It’s likely a goner. Most folks are advocating removing and burning. I’ve had some mulberries hit by them that I cut to ground level and they re-grew.

I lost a grafted tree to ambrosia beetles a few years ago. It grew back from the roots and is large enough to re-graft now.
Ambrosia beetles are endemic in most of the Southeast and infest trees in very early spring just before they leaf out. Systemic pesticides might kill them but the tree is probably already dead.
