My Hachiya was very productive last year. This year I only had 4 blossoms. 3 are OK so far. One dropped. I see tiny bumps at most leaf nodes. Are those going to grow into stems with blossoms and fruit? I am confused by the time and size discrepencies. It is 5/31 in Sacramento, CA and the temperature will top 100 degrees. Before that we had an unusually cool spring.
6/14 and some growth but not a lot of in the buds. Are they going to develop into fruit this year?
Here in southern middle TN…
My IKKJiro was blooming mid May.
Has fruit set mid June.
Not sure if they will hold… it is just into year 3.

Hard to know if blooms or fruit will drop.
I doubt you’ll get additional flowers after the first flush. I’ve seen that on my Chocolate, but not on any others. Persimmons can have a big productive year and then have a light year afterwards. Some varieties, like Giombo, are known to be biennial if they aren’t thinned when they have a heavy fruit set. It could be the same with your Hachiya since it is asking a lot of the tree to make so many large heavy fruit.
I don’t grow Hachiya, so can’t say for sure, but that would be my thought on what you are seeing. If you want more consistent crops each year, I would thin the fruit next year if it looks like it is setting another large crop.
