We have several trees of apples, pears and plums, but somehow I’m not particularly interested in them and I don’t expand their varietal diversity in my country, since these are fairly common trees for our region, unlike persimmons! We sometimes have severe frosts in winter, so I am ready for the fact that many varieties of persimmons (especially oriental varieties) in my conditions can completely freeze out when there are severe frosts, for me this is more of an experiment!

About ten or fifteen years ago, people began to try to plant persimmon trees in their gardens and household plots in our area. The persimmon culture in the south of Ukraine and other regions of Ukraine began to spread thanks to the efforts and knowledge of professionals in their field, such as Vasily Nikolaevich Derevyanko and Valery Platonovich Chernyaev, enthusiastic persimmon growing enthusiasts, as well as thanks to other specialists of the Novokahovsky nursery (a branch of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden in Kherson region) and the Nikitsky Botanical Garden in the Crimea. I was born in Zaporozhskaya oblast near the sea. I was school-aged when we moved. Didn’t know of persimmons when we lived there but I got to see the fertility of that region by helping my parents in the garden. We grew lots of veggies, berries, fruit and nuts. There seemed to be an abundance of whatever we grew. Some of my favorite childhood memories were climbing mulberry trees and eating the fruit. I still have nostalgia when it comes to mulberries.
Similar to you, my current growing space is limited so I also resort to multi-grafting to try new varieties. Thanks again for sharing your video.
