Yes 1 gallon size is bound to be small….a stick in a shovelful of dirt! Once mine gets going will be able to offer scions. Maybe next winter.
That would be greatly appreciated
Yours is the first description of PVA that makes plain sense to me. Thank you.
This year things have been late. Here is my first H118 to color up. Normally I wouldn’t pick any until I see some drop.
I’ll probably wait a week before eating it.
Murky:
Darn it…my Cardinal never woke up this spring so, sorry, no scions available this winter.
I might try again from OGW.
@murky Is that Asian persimmon variety? How big the tree and how is the tasting? Could you have more pictures of the tree with fruits on it please. Thank you Jafar.
No, it’s H118, Prairie Star. Pure virginiana. I’ve been posting in various threads, not doing a good job of keeping track. It’s the same one mamuang asked for pictures of the fruit while they were green.
The tree looks pretty sad right now with the branches drooped from fruit and most of the leaves ripped off by the wind.
Thank you for information. Now I so excited waiting my Nikita for tasting.
Very sorry to hear that, and apologies for not acknowledging its demise earlier, if I haven’t. I was just combing through my PMs and posts looking to see who had suggested scion wood may be available this winter.
I was at One Green World a couple of weeks ago too, I got some feijoa. Most of their persimmons trees were tiny, and many of those had fruit on them. Seems they could spend a little energy and remove the fruit from these twigs. I was tempted to sample some too.
There were many tiny Raven trees. I think there were some Cardinal trees, but don’t recall for sure. Certainly no large ones.
I did get a Cardinal from Burnt Ridge last month. It’s only 8 inches tall!!!
That’s proof that I’m crazy. Getting fruit is a race against my own longevity.
Hey Vincent
Can you share an update & feedback on Sheng?
I ordered one from JF&E and would like to hear from members whom have had experience with it.
I should receive it next week and plan to put it in the ground in MA zone 6b.
Great, informative post, jrd51!
