I tried 6 Pineberry starts last spring and let them fruit in summer to get a sense of taste. To me they lacked any sweetness and tasted flat. Maybe I’m just too programmed to the sweet strawberry knockout flavor! Pulled them at end of summer.

Well I guess there is always a first. I never seen any comments that flavor was flat. My experience says they rival any strawberry in flavor. I’m hoping Florida Pearl is firmer. My only complaint is the flesh is too soft.
White D grows so well here, I will always grow it. But I prefer a good red for processing as pineberries can turn a very ugly brown when processed. A shame as the flavor is outstanding. You have to use a lot of lemon juice to keep the color decent. I mix a few reds in to give a nice pink color to the jam or syrup.

Does anyone know where White D is still sold? I’ve been looking for a while.

I’m also interested in knowing any known good source for white strawberries too (preferably a known cultivar since strawberries are so variable).
