Wow, this was a new insect to me. My apples have had black aphids, my roses have green aphids, and now my tomato plants have ‘pink’ aphids. I sprayed the heck out of the plants last evening with water and if there are more (I’m sure there will be) I’ll spray them again tonight. They just appeared over night. I have never seen a pink aphid before.
Any pictures of the pink ones, Mrs. G.? I’m interested to see what they look like.
I have black aphids on cherry, green aphids on E. plum and roses.
I don’t have tomato plants this year. With my luck, I probably would get the pink aphids if I had tomato plants since we are not too far from each other.
Sounds like Rosy Apple aphids mrsg…they get after other stuff too. This is the first year I’ve had issues with them here on my apples, and I’ve spotted them on my tomatoes as well.
Hi Mamuang! Enjoying these hot days? No rain yet here! My camera is not focusing well on the aphids. they look like your green aphids but are light pink. Very odd!
As Appleseed mentioned, I looked up Rosy Apple aphid pictures. Well, lucky me, I saw those red ant-like bugs running up and down my peach trees this year. I was wondering what kind of bugs they were. Now I know. Another trouble!!
It’s so hot and humid here. Those peonies start showing mildew and roses with black spots. It has not really rained much. Only a few minutes here and there. I hope it pours. My lawn needs it.
Could be potato aphids.
I got pink aphids on my lettuce for the first time ever. Most sources indicate that lettuce aphids can be green, pink, or orange. However, these pink aphids are bigger than the usual green ones that find my lettuce. I’m wonder if they could be potato aphids. Apparently color doesn’t mean anything, since both lettuce aphids and potato aphids can be green or pink.
Funny you mention potato aphids. I have potatoes growing this year, last year I did not grow them. Hmmm just could be the answer!
