Pink Lemonade Apple

Is anyone growing this apple from @SkillCult ? I’d love to hear people’s experiences with growing it, or any Skillcult apples for that matter.

I’m not growing pink lemonade but I am trying other varieties from Steven. I have Cherub, Black Strawberry, Hard Candy Cider, Sugarwood and Cherry Crush. All were grafted in pots spring 2023 except for Cherry Crush which was grafted and potted spring 2024. My best grower and survivor to date is Cherub. Sugarwood and Hard Candy Cider didn’t survive last winter but I’m likely pushing the limits of his varieties even though last year was considered very mild for our area.

Yeah he has several I’d like to take a crack at, I just live in VA and know that my climate is night and day different from CA. The Black and Red apple looks intriguing. I got a scion of Pink Lemonade from @Rosdonald last year that I grafted on G11 potted and doing well, I’m planning to plant out soon and see what happens. I’m only interested in highly disease resistant apples so we shall see

Pink Lemonade was originaly released some years ago as Flaxen, so quite a few people have it grafted out. I have not heard any reports yet, but I’m starting to hear a few reports on other apples. I have a feeling quite a few of them will actually do better in more favorable apple climates than mine. I think Pink Lemonade has a lot of potential. It is a little bit like a scab resistant Pink Pearl. Not tons of red fleshed flavor, but enough to make it intriguing. I suspect it will develop more pink flesh and flavor in cooler climates. Texture and eatability are very nice. It is definitely on the tart and refreshing side of things. I’ve had good feedback from tasters here so far. I have plenty of scion wood each year, since I started propagating it for that a few years ago. Here it sunburns badly. Once I got it onto a foundation tree with plenty of cover, it really opened up and started producing these nice big apples of higher quality. I think it will do very well in the pacific NW. We’ll just have to see how it plays out as people grow it in different regions. I’ll be using it in breeding a lot because of general quality and apparent scab resistance from Gold Rush. This past season I only had a few flowers and a few scrappy fruits.
