Planting grapes in September

I have several grapevines that I started as hardwood cuttings in February this year. they have now grown to two and a half to 3 ft tall and I want to know if I can plant them now rather than waiting until spring. If I get them in the ground in the next week I’d still have a good 8 weeks of growing weather here in western Washington but I want to get people’s opinion on whether I should or keep them in the greenhouse until spring.

I would plant them after they go dormant. Grapes are not my thing, but usually plants don’t like to get confused right before they need to spend all their attention and energy on preparing for the long sleep. Once dormant they won’t even register what you are doing to them, and stand the best chance of just waking up in the spring ready to roll.

Our growing season here is until November 17 or after, so that would give them 92 days to be established. Wouldn’t that be enough time?

I would think so, for me grapes seem to like being moved into the ground. I think they probably would grow better if you did it now.

Thanks

If the rooted cuttings were transplanted to individual pots, they can be planted into the ground at any time without disturbing their roots.

Thank you
