Plants for pollinators and beneficial insects

I actually plant dandelion seeds. There are something like 1,000 seeds per single packet. There are even pink dandelions! (I didn’t realize they weren’t native, I never even looked it up.)

We have a big range of bees and hornets where I live. I make sure to leave some undisturbed bare earth and dried stems, for the native bees.

I planted dandelion one year, not for the flowers, but I eat them. They are good tonic plants. The French eat them in the Spring.

But last year I threw a lot of yarrow seeds, I read they are attract beneficial insects that eat thrips. This year they come back with a vengeance. But I’m going to remove the baby plants.
