Poll: How many fig trees could you propagate and maintain?

For those interested in receiving a free bundle of cuttings from my fig repository:

How many fig cultivars do you have the resources to propagate from cuttings and maintain for years to come outdoors year-round? Assume you’d start with 2-4 cuttings per cultivar. Also assume you’d have no advance knowledge of which cultivars are in your bundle.

I have 4/5 sets of stuewe and sons propagation trays and pots at 4x4 so i could do 64 at a time technically… but i don’t want to grab more soil  2cubic ft of soil is enough for almost 2 trays with what how much i use.

At this point, I’m doing it just cause i find it joyful

We are always starting fig cuttings we pick up from old estates. We try to do a minimum of 25 at a time. But 50 is more average.

I currently have a tote of Celeste from one estate. Probably 30 cuttings worth. Plus another 30 SBT from last year.

But we just got a lot of pots and 2 truckloads of carbon composted soil I will mix. So we are set for cuttings. Working on finishing Plumbago starts now.

I currently have 300+ rooting in the basement. Should be room for more soon if more were available.

I can propagate alot… maintain thats another story… Im narrowing mine down to about 12 or so to keep.

I guess if i ever get Cherry Bomb i wont really need any others…right?

For some of us, it has always been about preservation of cultivars. Consequently I’m only considering results of the poll.

Chicago was the avatar of a collector. The original name of the cultivar was Chicago’s Hearty. It was obtained from East Coast immigrants who grew it in Abruzzo, IT.

For me 2 max. I only have 1 now.

Simply dont need any more than that.

I might propagate one or two occasionally and share with family and friends.

My sister and daughter have a prop of my CH Fig.

I could maintain 6-8 different cultivars

I like puzzles. The color for jerry doesn’t perfectly match so I’m not confident about that response. What does @trust_level_4 think about the answers?

Would anyone want to go halfsies on a bundle?

I feel it would be impolite to ask for anything as Richards offer is extremely generous. Perhaps those of us who couldnt grow a large number of plants on our own could split a bundle amongst ourselves?

Not looking for a bundle, Just wanted to vote and see what others said. I just set out 42 Fig cuttings to root yesterday.

I am kinda thrilled. We only have SBT and the dwarf like Celeste. Of which we root a lot of cuttings from.

Just wrangled up two piles of small pots.

Sorry, no. I read 32 cuttings at 2-4 cuttings per cultivar, but 120+ cuttings would be a little overboard. I apologize i read and replied quickly on my break.
