marcot may be an english word, but just now i realized-- it is rarely used in usa.
in the humid tropics, where trees live long and grow plenty branches fast and year-round, marcotting/airlayering is almost as common a word as grafting.
actually got a bit sentimental about the tropics when i saw your project.
