My sister gave me a little 2 inch seedling in a yogurt cup 2 years ago. I put it in the ground this year and it has it’s 1st bud. I wonder what the genetic lottery has in store.
On a branch tip it will likely be male.
Seedling pomegranates tend to have flowers of “double blossom” habit and make better decorative plants than fruiting plants.
It’s one of several experiments. If it’s like that and pretty I might move it to the front with the other flowers. I have a Parfianka as well so maybe it will improve that one’s yield at least
It’s very pale . . . not red like most of the varieties I have. I’m thinking maybe it’s one of the sweeter ones with the less staining juice?
My sister said she just seeded a bunch from just a regular one she bought at the grocery store so it’s parent is probably a Wonderful. I’m excited to see how different it may be! None of my sister’s have had any blossoms yet, probably because I have more full day sun for mine
When it finally is fully blossomed, show us a photo.
Good, that looks single.
Who cares if single or double, that is one purty red flower. If you get fruit out of it, that would be cool, but just enjoy your free flowering tree.
