Actually, Costco in Canada is not really known for lower priced fruit, as far as I have seen. We have T&T Supermarket, an Asian supermarket chain, that often has some of the best prices when pomelos are on special.

Love Pummelo fruit. We have one in the ground here in Pensacola Florida. Got it from JFE and itās called a Hirado Butan pummelo. I knocked all the fruits but three because itās the first year to produce and i was sure they wouldnāt be too tasty. Boy was i wrong. They were the most delicious Pummelo weāve eaten. Juicy, delicious, sweet and mammoth in size. Best weāve eaten.
As you can see in the pictures they are still a bit on the unripe size. I knocked one off by accident backing into it while repairing my privacy fence so we tried it. Glad we did.

I feel in love with them in the Philippines, delicious. I donāt care for grapefruit unless itās a Duncan which is juicy, very sweet and delicious with no bitterness.

Bought pomelos from Costco. Pink/red fleshed, rather bland (but not sour), sections were crumbly, (I meant they did not hold the shape). I may make Pomelo salad (same recipe as Som Tum, green papaya salad)
Will buy some more since each batch could be different varieties, taste, texture.
@murky I plan to visit Thailand in 2026. If lucky, it could coincide with a pomelo season.

I grew pomelo awhile here in Kansas. They are very large fruit and tasted like a mild grapefruit to me. The blooms smell heavenly. The tree was a dwarf i picked up at a local garden center. I grew them inside all winter and moved them out in the spring. They are the easiest thing to grow. Mine only fruited once a year.

There are many varieties. Thong Dee is one of the best ones.
I just started growing fruiting citrus indoors this winter. Itās Myers lemon. If it does not get killed by scales, spider mites and fungus, I will look to grow other citrus.

Sumatra grow the finest durian.! Ate plenty of them. This guy cut a small square opening for us to smell.We usely buy 4 or 5.

Tippy, you remember Jo Real he was the one who gave me a couple of sticks of Tong Dee before he moved to Hawaii. A very intelligent person! Mix Tong Dee with the newest large mandarin they just released might get winner.

By the way, I am from Thailand, you can have all your Sumatraās durian. I can eating all my Mon-Thong durians by myself

āThongā - pronounce tong, means gold so a lot of fruit that has golden color tend to have the word Thong in it.

Greenworld and the bigger California nurseries might have them too. Yosemite gold is a very large mandarin . There are 3 others gold series. 51/2ā.

I donāt have any big problem with either one.
Your soil make up and pot size. For the size I keep it 12 gallon, change every 3 years.
