Prok American persimmon got a facelift

18 feet tall Prok American persimmon got the bottom 8 feet converted to JT-02 Hybrid persimmon that survived -20F for me and -25F for Dax. SMC got some fruits from Cliff England and said it was a little richer and firmer than Hachiya Astringent Kaki that meant a world in Kaki territory.

I like the idea of electrical tape over parafilm. Those grafts are bound tight!

Yup. On Persimmon graft, I even wrapped a rubber band first then black electrical tape for insurance. It worked great with 80-90 % takes for me but the aftercare is more important to keep the graft live then takes. I rubbed off the growths under the tape and the union every 4 days and that is the ticket.

Update on the JT-02 grafts

I can’t imagine if the top half of the Prok decided to keep all the fruits. This tree would be so loaded. Since I bark grafted the bottom 8 feet to
JT-02 and it decided to aborted 1/2 of the crops.

Tony,
You can’t have it all  So far, you ‘ve had (success in grafting and orcharding) more than most any way.
