Pruning Blueberries

This is true in your location, but not all areas of the U.S.

I have yet to see a university blueberry pruning guide that does not suggest this. Like many fruit such as currants branches can become unproductive.
Maybe Lee Reich will come in as he has a published pruning guide. One of multiple books he authored.
As far as I know branches last 5-7 years and there is no reference to location. I would have to see that in writing as it’s important to know proper pruning techniques.
Again I never heard of not removing 6-8 year old branches. Virtually every guide suggests you do.

I had no idea blueberries needed pruning. . Fruit trees yes, raspberries yes, but somehow missed the memo on blueberries. This was perfect timing for me, my blueberry bushes are just starting to get to the point they’ll need pruning.
