I did the same today, using the rocks in sandwich bag method, also pruned the cherries and plums. I guess Iβm just looking for shape, light and air penetration, but really I have no idea
I think itβs easier to prune for shape when leaves are gone. I just control height this time of year. Cut back some of the new growth.
