Raspberry, Blueberry, all berry Variety Lineage Information

Haven’t found a post about this yet so I figured I’d make one for those who like to get the newer, usually improved varieties. Don’t know how else i should word this post… Anyways, i was also looking for graton gold (Goldie) for a while until I found out and realized that Double Gold is the possibly improved version? I figured maybe someone else wants to know too.

The - after the variety names are copy/paste from the patent file information or where ever I can find it.

Please add to my list if you have time:
:grapes:

Jaclyn - The cross OBC-f1 (unpatented)בCaroline’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 10,412)

Josephine - The cross “EF” was ‘Amity’ (unpatented)בGlen Gerry’

Bp1 - The new variety is the result of a cross between raspberry variety ‘Polka’ (female parent, unpatented) and raspberry variety ‘Tulameen’ (male parent, unpatented).

Himbotop - This new variety is a result of a controlled cross between the fall raspberry variety ‘AUTUMN BLISS’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 6,597) and the summer raspberry variety ‘RAFZETER’ (not patented in the United States; sold as HIMBO QUEEN).

Anne - The cross, “EF”, was Amity×Glen Gerry and was made in winter of 1989.

@krismoriah this :grin:

Crimson Treasure - NY02-57 (unpatented) and the variety ‘Rafzaqu’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 19,512 P3)

Kokanee’, tested as ORUS 4090-1, was selected from a seedling field in Corvallis, OR, in 2009 from a cross made in 2007 of ORUS 1173-2 × ‘Vintage’

Decided to make this all berry type lineage info so we all can see the improved varieties:

Blueberry:
Clockwork:
The new blueberry plant originated from a cross of ‘Reka’ (female parent, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 6,700, expired) by ‘US645’ (pollen parent, unpatented). The new blueberry plant variety ‘Clockwork’ has been planted in replicated trials since 2007.

Top Shelf:
The new blueberry plant originated from a cross of ‘Magnolia’ (female parent, unpatented) by ‘Draper’ (pollen parent, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 15,103). The new blueberry plant variety ‘Top Shelf’ has been planted in replicated trials since 2008. US20130239261P1 - Blueberry plant named 'TOP SHELF' - Google Patents

Blue Ribbon:
Pedigree and History: The new blueberry plant originated from a 2002 controlled cross pollination of ‘G344’ (pollen parent, unpatented) by ‘Toro’ (female parent, unpatented). The seedling was first selected from a high density field planting in the summer of 2005 and has been planted in replicated trials since 2008.

So clockwork is supposed to be the upgraded Reka, Top Shelf = upgraded Draper
Blue Ribbon = upgraded Toro

Basically what we can take from the lineage is that supposedly they’re the upgraded varieties that they came from. So like if you like Toro but don’t like that it’s so mushy, go with Blue Ribbon and so on.

Those Blueberry varieties look like they are from Fall Creek Nursery.Have they released them or intend to?
The company controls Sweetcrisp, for the PNW,which is why we can’t buy it here,or legally anywhere else.Boo.

Raintreenursery.com sells blue ribbon and they gave me a beautiful plant but it’s only 1 gallon.

The Barn Nursery in Olympia has Blue Ribbon along with Clockwork and Top Shelf. I just picked up 2 Blue Ribbon and 2 Clockwork today from there. I’m about to go back and grab a bunch more. They’re 30$ each and 3 gallon. Decent sized as well. I think the varieties are legit because they look/grow like my other Top Shelf I’ve gotten from everywhere else along with the other varieties. I think one Blue Ribbon may be mislabeled though since it doesn’t look like the rest of the Blue Ribbon I’ve seen/have. I didn’t grab it.

KeeCrisp is the child of Sweetcrisp and i just sent am email for 4 plants from Cornelius Farms. Shipping to here is 65$ just for 4 plants though. Overall, I’m getting 6 plants in general and hoping they can just stuff 2 more in without upping my shipping cost too much. Supposedly KeeCrisp crops more than Sweetcrisp. I have a ton of tiny sweet crisp plants and a few mislabeled ones from Plant Me Green which i don’t know any variety of…

If by any chance you’re looking for a Toro  let me know. I just repotted some last year and they’re doing pretty well but if i don’t sell them, I’m sacrificing them to the birds in some corner of my yard. I’m gonna go for the newer varieties for my little blueberry orchard. I may or may not start a U-Pick in a few years once they’re more established. I have over 50 blueberry plants right now and I have ideas  just depends on how nice people are to me over here in Yelm but so far, everyone’s been really pleasant so I might just go for it. If not, then to friends and family as a private farm.

Addison:

The new cultivar of red raspberry, ‘Addison’, originated from a controlled cross in Winter in a screened glasshouse in College Park, Md. The cross, designated: “DA” is a cross of SDO-1 (female-unpatented)×RH-5 (male-unpatented). SDO-1 is a soft fruited, but productive cross of ON-1 (female-unpatented)בEmily’ (male-U.S. Plant Pat.
