my cherry of the rio grande tree produced at least 150 cherries this year. i’m so glad i got to enjoy a handful every day since mid May. i didn’t protect it last year and it got defoliated so it didn’t fruit for me last year. it’s a little bush, i don’t know how old it is. i beat the birds by bagging the clusters, they’re so good, when really ripe and dark purple they’re sweet and when a deep red they’re nice and tart. i really enjoy this fruit.

Nice production, I just got a cherry of the Rio grande in north Fl 8b. When your tree defoliated how low of temps did it receive? Thanks for posting

Looks yummy. Maybe I will try and grow this too, but I am borderline with the cold temperatures here. Lovely fruit
