Room in my seed tray…

Have an incubated seed tray at about 90 degrees. Sprouting peppers. Will plant in about 1 month.
Some room left over. What’s pest resistant and easy?
Carrots? Would love to get fresh lettuce or simular for smoothies etc, but I gave up on that because of crazy pest pressure here.

I grow my lettuce in self-watering long window planters on a table in the garden. To my shame I have a flock of Indian runner ducks to deal with the slug pressure, but what it rains…

Beets?

I only direct sow any tubers, they don’t transplant very well.
Snow peas don’t really get bothered too much for me, other than the occasional aphid

I have notoriously bad luck germinating and growing ground cherries. Any tips?

never had problems myself. very tiny seeds and seedlings though. just gotta be very very patient for them to get larger/stronger
