I’ve never had scab in my apples (in 5 years of growing), so I’m not sure what to look for, but maybe 20% of my young fruit on a Freedom has this odd crackling on it and wondering if it’s scab. Eventually the fruit just dries up (but doesn’t drop). The tree looks pretty healthy and we made it through curc season with plenty of Surround.
I’m in eastern MA, and we had a mid-May hard freeze (reached 27 F) that decimate most of my fruit right after it set, so I’m wondering if maybe this is some delayed damage.
Anyone have thoughts or see similar problems in Eastern MA?
