I lost my young Methley plum to borers, along with some grafts. My fault, left a tree wrap on too long and they destroyed it before I noticed. Anyhow, I want to get another plum in next spring. All I currently have for plums is a young Green Gage with a Santa Rosa graft. Any favorites for mid-Atlantic and NE growers? I’m in 6b. Might just order another Methley then, but I thought I’d see what others like and do well with.
My favorite is Satsuma. Its a blood plum, with red flesh. If you let them hang a good long time they will have a delicious spicy flavor. Lavinia is also proving to be a great plum. Both of these are really easy to grow. I put my plum experiences on another thread awhile back.
