Shelving unit for growing seedlings

I purchased this shelving unit for $175 on Amazon. I have used a homemade stand for the last 20 years and decided to upgrade to something better suited for the purpose. This unit is 2 ft by 5 ft and stacks 5 shelves roughly 15 inches apart. It is long enough to hang 4 ft long light fixtures above the plants. I have the lights on chains so they can be raised or lowered for different height plants.

Shelf rating is for 500 pounds on the wheels or 4000 pounds on leveling feet. I’m using it on wheels so I can move it around in my basement.

My next intended purchase will be some new light fixtures. I am currently using 3 fluorescent fixtures on each shelf to achieve light levels roughly 1/4 of full sunlight. I want to upgrade to a troffer type 2 ft X 4 ft LED light fixture with similar output.

Nice. I use a similar shelf, but I took out a shelf as I have a repeated habit of starting too early…

I’m using heat mats & 6500k led lights w/ sunglasses on when I work around those suckers!

I’m looking for light fixtures designed for plants. So far, I’ve found a few that would work but are thicker than I would like.

These are the ones I’m using for reference

Singles will always be more expensive than a dedicated 2’X4’ fixture. I also want selectable output in the range of roughly 12,000 lumens up to about 20,000 lumens and in a range of intensity. For an example, this is one I’m evaluating.
