Should I be worried

Just notice this on some seedlings that I started. The

odd thing is the asparagus has a different fungus than the artichokes and they are in the same tray, next to each other. Neither seem to be suffering any harmful effects but I don’t think it has been obvious for long.

They are growing in a closet with grow lights, a few other plants are in there but I don’t see anything on the other plants.
Would you use an anti fungal? Which one?

The growing media is full of decaying organic matter. Fungal growth is common. As long as it isn’t damaging the seedlings you can rest easy. If you are starting seedlings which are very susceptible to damping off, a layer of sand on top of the organic matter can create a nice buffer between the tender seedling stems and the fungus.

I was hoping that it was saprophytic fungi. I annually start most of my vegetable plants from seed and haven’t seen this before. Will start the majority in the next few weeks. thanks

a little fan in there on low will help strengthen the seedlings and dry out the top layer some to reduce mold.

thanks. I have had one in there since the first true leaves developed. Might have improved some, still doesn’t seem to be causing any problems.
