Lamb Abbey, the first graft for hire I have made, on Bud118. This on an older stock as a cleft graft with both sides taking.
One of my favorite apples & durable, easy care tree.

Watch out for the grafting bug. It flies around the trees and quite a few of us have caught it!
Would a card engraver that embosses an impression on a credit card type card also work? I see a basic model for $200. Not cheap but maybe a similar alternative.
@Fishinjunky I’d have to ask the misses. Her queue is pretty full at the moment though. Her normal job is beastial with the after 5 hours so her other obligations have had to be side-barred for a bit. That includes the rest of my tags. Thankfully patience is a large part of this endeavor.
I 3D printed these tags myself with a plastic that holds up well to weather and UV exposure (ASA). They are durable but it’s kind of a slow process. If I had a laser engraver I’d definitely use that instead
Those labels are super readable
I put the year grafted on my labels too. But it has the disadvantage of not being re-usable if the graft fails.
Love the updated pic. I’m always looking for pictures of apple grafts onto rootstock year to year but it’s not easy to find. Seeing this update is nice. I have a few 4 year old apple grafts I’m hoping to see my first apple this year fingers crossed
Do you bench graft to rootstock before any growth started on the rootstock?
I’m wondering if waiting too long and the rootstock starts growing and you cut off the new growth to place the graft there’s no energy left in the root stock to feed the scion.
thanks
