Something's wrong --apple trees blooming in September!

I was picking apples yesterday afternoon here in our northern Virginia yard, when I noticed the Jonathan apple tree putting on blooms. There are at least a dozen on the tree.

Both of my mature trees had lost nearly all their leaves the past few weeks as a result of a minimal spray program (only twice this year) and heavy scab outbreak in the latter half of the summer. I don’t know whether the absence of leaves coupled with a couple weeks cooler weather followed by a hot spell induced the blooming.

Mine bloom every September, plus early spring and summer to boot!

Then maybe I’ll get two crops this year! :relaxed:
