I have a few fruits on my methley plum I planted last year and some of them have these spots on them. The skin does not appear to be pierced - just darkened. Any ideas what it might be?
If those red spots appeared on apples, I would be pretty sure the tree had scale. I’ve never had a problem with scale on J. plums in my neck of the woods, however. Stinkbugs can cause similar injury when the puncture the skin, but you say that is unlikely.
Hopefully an experienced grower closer to you will have an answer, but with high magnification you can see larval scale moving around. Bright orange-yellow bubble looking things
