Some local squirrel has taken a liking to avocado seeds (more like cotyledon) even many months after the tree started growing. This is the third one this week where they gnawed through both stem and taproot to make off with the still-attached “seed”:

I saw chipmunks killing potted trees by digging them up or repeatedly remove soil around the root zone. I saw rabbits killing seeding trees by clip the branches. But I have not seen squirrels do that.
