Mines been in the ground for a couple of years now. Its grown well and was nicely shaped. I let the tree crop a few apples this year but i lost them along with all my other apples when deer infiltrated my fence. Sucks because I was really looking forward to this apple.

Mine came as a whip (no branches). That said, they weren’t kidding when they said it was a vigorous tree. It significantly outperformed the Ruby Darling I bought the same year in terms of amount of growth. Mine also has an upright growth habit that I should probably attend to next spring …

Can’t comment on how the apples taste, though… if I’m lucky first fruit should be in 2020 or 2021

My scarlet crush is only one year old so I’m not expecting anything for at least another 3 years. Growth is medium vigor so far, hopefully it will take off next year.

@Abigail any chance you’ve been able to taste a Scarlet Crush? I also am wondering about disease resistance, thanks!

@speedster1 Any update on the scarlet crush? How has it done, especially with disease and flavor?

I like it. It is not a prolific producer for me but the disease pressure has been fairly light. It is crisp textured with some acidity. The flavor is not overly complex but overall it’s one I’ll keep growing.

For me when I taste it I just get gala taste and they were on the huge size for me. I’ll see if they have a different taste this year. I’ll probably keep a couple of limbs and graft something else to it.
