I get feeling he’s all burnt out with other things going on in his life. It must be challenging to deal with an orchard that large.
Well this is just a kick in the gut. Who knows what all the repercussions for him and his business are. No wonder the wind is out of his sails. We’ve all had these kinds of things happen and he had illness on top of that. There was a slight stab at optimism with the mention of more scion wood. Perhaps this will lead to a good course change in his life.

Stephen Hayes is one of my favorite orchardist of all time so I can’t say enough good things about him! It’s very unfortunate he has went through this and the other things he has in recent years. One thing about Stephen Hayes we can all be sure of is he puts his heart in everything he does. I’m praying he will recover quickly from these set backs. I’ve learned several grafting tricks from his videos through the years. He has done the world an enormous favor with those videos he has done on varities, grafting, pruning etc… Spoke with him via email earlier this year and you can tell he has had a difficult time lately.
