Hello All,
This is an Earliglow Strawberry. Out of about 30 plants this is the only one to have this. Other kinds nearby include AllStar, Tristar and common wild. Any idea what this is?

Looks like some kind of fungus? Btw how did AllStar and TriStar taste?
Not sure this is my first year so Haven’t had my first crop yet. Looking forward to June
Could the fungus be coming from the mulch?
Maybe too wet where planted, not enough sun?
I have some other issue with a strawberry.
can anybody name what the problem is?I think you might be right. I found a picture of a slime mold on strawberry that looks very similar. Grows from the mulch and does not hurt the plant. Slime Moulds - Strawberries - Ontario CropIPM
I just added a Ozark Beauty and Quinalt Strawberries from Bonnie’s potted plants just for trial. If the berries taste good then I will use the runners to added the patch. Have anyone try these two strawberry varieties?
Thanks guys this is certainly correct. Since I created this post I found this on a few others plants, all weeds. It seems to stay off the fruit itself and doesn’t seem to spread at all.
It’s a bit late but I don’t think anyone helped you out with your strawberry problem. It might be common strawberry leaf spot. I get it on my June bearing strawberries, but it usually doesn’t effect the fruit. I don’t do anything to treat it except to remove the leaves when I renovate the bed.
Thanks for noticing my question. Yes it appears berries look normal.
Some of my strawberries are always sour, some need picked extremely ripe to not be, and a new couple varieties are sweet even unripe. I akways wondered if the spots affected sweetness.
In my experience variety plays a large role in the sweetness of the strawberries. It’s also hard to balance size and sweetness. Some of the sweetest varieties also tend to be on the smaller size, like earliglow. In my experience Cavendish, Cabot, and jewel have large berries with good flavor/sweetness.
Also, I noticed some grass close to your strawberries. Removing the competition can help. I just have june bearing strawberries, but I’ve noticed much better fruit the following year if I renovate the bed and thin the plants out after fruiting.
Yep, this year the maintenence workers did not trim or cut grass near my bed. The manager of apartments insisted not to and she will get them to do it. It was worse, I hand pulled some because they still do not do it. Before last year it was edged regularly.
I have not seen most of those varieties you mentioned. I have Ft. Laramie, Honeyoye, Benton, pineberries, Bubblegum, and another from Home Depot last year I tried that was supposed to be super sweet. It almost is too sweet.
