These plums are crunchy good. Has anyone tried them yet? I ate one and gave it a thumbs up. The one I ate the seed started to root so I planted it. Hopefully someday it will give me a good fruit. Fingers crossed.

Just now had some, what a great tasting piece of fruit. Headed back to the Piggly Wiggly to get some more. I’ve had many really good fruits (white Nectarines in particular) and this is right up there with them.

I bought the Tiger Blood variety they had a couple weeks ago and they were the best plums i’ve ever bought.

I wonder if these plums (or even pluots) are existing varieties that got new fancy names to attract attention.
If they are grown in CA, the climate (dry and sunny) could help maximize their eating quality.
I went on the way home and they were sold out you guys made everyone run to the store smh

Fun experiment. Stone fruit from seed almost never comes true to the parent variety but you occasionally get something decent. At worst it’s a perfectly good rootstock if you want to graft onto it later.

Seems like there are not too many readers of this forum here in NE Ohio – just ran to Trader Joe’s and there were plenty of Strawberry Plum packages. Got some, I agree they are extremely good (thanks for tip, Tony!), perhaps the best among store-bought, but I’d still take home-grown ones (at least the ones I grow – seneca or early laxton or victoria or an unknown gage) over these any day. Of course, the home grown only grow once every few years, with our late frosts…

I can’t find anything online about the breeding of these things. I feel like Satsuma was a parent with the tiger blood with just how dark the flesh is but who knows.

I went to TJ today. There were plenty of Strawberry plums for sale.
My Early Magic Asian plums are ripening now. My tree-ripened plums taste really good so I skipped the Strawberry plums.

I sent my husband to look for these seeing all the rave reviews, but none to be found in Maryland.

Yep, I don’t see them here either.
I got some yesterday. I’m not sure that I tasted cherry but I thought they were good and sweet. I tested the brix of 4 of them and they ranged between 17 and 20 with the majority being above 19. @tonyOmahaz5 Thank you for the post they were worth trying. I’ll be curious if you have luck with the seedling.

I just planted 2 seeds about a week ago. The seed that had a small root started to push and break ground. The other one was still in the pod so I don’t know when that one will push grow. Next year I will harvest a scion and graft it to a major tree to speed up the production.
