Goos evening gardeners. I have just purchased a strawberry tree (on a whim). Any words of advice. I’ve seen info saying full shade and also some saying only 6 hours of sun. I live in NW Florida (zone 8). Thanks in advance.
I assume you are talking about muntingia calabura (Jamican Cherry) and not arbutus unedo. Full sun, its a pioneer plant, it loves being the only thing around. Needs lots of water till it gets used to its environment if its hot. It hates the cold though, so be prepared to protect it.
If you are talking about the other strawberry tree, ignore everything I just said.
It’s the arbutus unedo. Thank you for the info though
I have mine behind my pomegranates and Loquat. It seems happy enough but haven’t had it very long(a little less than a year). I’m sure your soil is bad like mine so just make sure you mulch it good.
Forgot to mention this gets at least 6 hours of direct sun but some after and before is dappled. We actually had snow and I didn’t do anything in way of protecting it and it didn’t blink an eye at being covered basically by snow.
