Grew a hardneck and a softneck, planted in November, 2018.
The south end of each row (each variety has its own row) is stunted, and grew to only about half the size in both plant and bulb as the north end. I can’t see any difference in soil, fertilizer, or moisture from one end to the other.
The south end dried quicker? I have had some do this on occasion too, not sure why either?
Some years my bulbs are bigger or smaller than average. I have not figured that out either.
had the same issue last year with mine. i only amended with worm castings also. they were in my high raised beds so maybe not enough moisture?the row to the south, come to think of it, was more stunted.
