That is a possibility.
But you have to know, I have quite small hands, so the berries look bigger than they are. The berries have the typical wild Taste like the raspberries one can find in the woods thats why I think it is a wild one. Maybe it is a cross between a wild and a cultivated variety…
My first10 ripe peaches enough for a pie or tart tomorrow. Oh yum. I have never seen such velvety peaches before, ever! These are so sweet, so juicy and for a white peach they have a perfect amount of acid. I shot them in both natural and enhanced light.
Those look perfect. Well done!
I had a super busy weekend harvesting things. It’s so much work, not just picking but trying to process or use before it goes bad.
Speaking of perfect. . . Full Stop! WOW!
thanks. I would like to add all that is organic. I have had no brown rot on my stone fruit for two years in a row following @scottfsmith low impact spray program using Surround, bT, Spinosad, Cease, and sulfur. That peach tree still has hundreds of peaches on it that need to come off. We hope to freeze a lot of them, make pies and stuff, and hopefully can three jars for pies later. Hope all is well in France.
Beautiful peaches! I have a seeding peach that grow similar looking fruits. Very large velvet. They are not fully ripe yet but already turned very dark, almost black. They taste very good ,balanced the acidic and sweetness.
I am very well here in France. Each day is more beautiful than the next. My crops are far smaller than yours but it killed me to throw out an over ripe tomato last week. I’m just keeping up with my fruit tees and gardening for one. I think I will buy a yellow peach next spring. My peach tree has about 50 on it and I’ve only picked 11. I better get cooking and freezing too. The varieties here are amazing. My fruits are a bit smaller due to growing them in pots. They would be wild ‘in ground’! come see them!
Those are great looking too! Mine do have a lighter side to them. The sun side is dark like yours the shade side is lighter. Boy do they taste good! I hope yours do too! They are so rich looking.
Thanks mrsg47. It is one of my best taste peaches I grow. And it is very reliable and productive too. Mine looks dark on the tree than in the picture
Hi I’m in southern France and my mirabelle is a ‘Nancy’. It is at least a week or two away from ripeness. Some are just beginning to turn yellow. I know Germany has its own varieties of Mirabelles. I have never heard of yours or seen one. It looks really good. Is it a German Mirabelle? Or Chinese?
It looked like soaked in honey. How it tastes? BTW you are in the best part of Germany. I travel through that area few years ago. I love it
Yes Flotow is probably the earliest mirabelle, maybe tied with Bergthold which I don’t have yet. Nancy is a late august variety for me. The literature is all in german, I think the guy it is named after was from Dresden in the 1800s. It is really good especially since there is not much else right now. It is a little bigger than Nancy and much softer, almost like a juicy jelly. It can be very sweet, but this year it’s not at its best. We had a really wet summer and some hail damage. But it ripens staggered over the next week or so, maybe it improves with some more sun.
Thank you so much, I will look them up. My family was from Vienna. I would like one more Mirabelle.
These are my very first Saturn. Entire Saturn crop for the year- 2 fruits. They are tree ripe (my squirrel baffle with grease is working great so far) I’ve never tasted better peaches! They were delicious. Maybe I should’ve picked it few days earlier, it was soft and juicy. When does everybody harvest Saturn in my area?
Splash is superb once they are ripe. Pretty sour leading up to that. Those look pretty close. Have you tried them?
This years Prunus Americana and cherry plum
Should anyone was scions, or rootstock, I have a nice thicket of PA that has several varieties with excellent tasting fruit.
Not yet. First time have fruits grown up to this stage. Not sure how to tell ny color it is ripe or not yet. Is it this color when ripe?
