Sunken pot to control roots of a jujube near house?

I’d love to have a jujube near my house, but from a previous post and a few searches, its roots and suckers would be a problem. I was thinking of doing something similar that I’ve done with my figs in the past which is to pot it and plant the pot with a few holes near the bottom of the sides for drainage. At the end of the season, I trim any roots escaping the pot. Do y’all think this would work with a jujube? It’s problem free with the figs. What size pot would be recommended if so? 15ish gallons is my go to with the figs.

If your container is big enough and it doesn’t dry out…should work.
