If a race of Super Space Aliens were destroying earth to make way for parking for an intergalactic truck stop; what single specific variety of one fruit would you take with you for jam/jelly/preserves? You only get to save one.
Raspberries
Black currants. Although it is my first year with Tayberries, so there is a chance I might change my mind.
If only one, and if only for jelly, it would have to be elderberries.
Tell me which one can live out space first, I will take that one.
How about grapes? I only sort of like grape jam, but if I’m bringing one fruit for jam, I’d want it to be something that can also be used for juice. Hopefully the cuttings come with some yeast on them too .
hands down, black currants. very easy to propagate more also.
I would put some thought into what is most prone to mutating and diversifying. It would need to evolve some diversity after being saved.
Blueberries. They can last for weeks after picking.
Count me in for black currant. I think my brain has a drug-like response to its volatile compounds. Especially when cooking jam. I always have to restrain myself from tasting the whole pot.
passion fruit.
close second. black currant
raspberries jam was my fave until i tried black currant.
