Sweet 16 apple

This year (2021) we had the first two apples from our Sweet 16 on B118 planted in 2014, zone 4. They were winners, very tasty. Neither dropped. Looking forward to many more in future years.

@northwoodswis4 how did you know when to pick them?

Well, I only discovered them when they were nice and red, so they weren’t even bagged. They looked ripe, so we ate them right off the tree. October 5th.

I’ve soured on Zestar as well after several seasons of mediocrity here. This year it was especially bland- at least the majority of its apples were. I don’t need an apple to be as sweet as Sansa, but it may be the best apple I know in its season. It’s very high sweetness is certainly a hit with my customers. I’m surprised it isn’t more important as a commercial apple- it seems very grower friendly.
