I can see a marked difference this year on my stone fruit trees by using Indar. For the past three years I was continually pruning off perfectly good limbs that had black knot . Only my Euro plums and sour cherry were affected. I pruned out the last of the black knot this past Feb. it is almost August and I am thrilled to say I have no brown rot or black knot! Thank you Scott! As for the insects…a whole different story. Will spray again after the rain passes.
I was reading up on this. This can be used regular as a preventative? Seems like it helps with a lot of problems.
You can read its label on line. It can be used on various fruit trees at various stages of growth. Like any fungicide, it has a number of spray you can use per season.
Powerful and expensive. Backyard growers would need to split a gallon.
Wow…maybe I’ll have to reconsider. I do have Copper from BONIDE I can use. I am just a little lazy about this stuff and hope for just a single or two sprays I can use as Preventative sprays. Maybe to much to ask…I read Scott’s schedule he uses for non chemical spraying and I was like WOW…Where could you get the time and you will need a Calendar with details to remember it all. I really hope it’s not crazy time consuming. I guess i just didn’t realize how much it can take…
Don’t know where you are. Those of us in high pressure brown rot areas, copper does not do the job.
North Florida. Almost Georgia is where my trees are all at. My trees have all been just planted this year but I’m constantly watching for every little sign of issues. I have gotten a lot of great info. on here but it seems fruit is all highly susceptible to problems…maybe I’m just a worry wart…
There are forum members who live near you, I believe. They would be able to share with you what grow well there and what pests and diseases you will be facing.
For us here, brown rot takes about 3-5 years to show its full force. Pests sometimes show up the same year a tree produces fruit
Dang… Maybe they will see my posts? I’m fully committed to having good fruit and nut trees and will commit time but would rather use the stuff that’s easier and less complicated provided it’s safe. Once I retire i will be perfectly happy to spend FULL time doing what ever needs done. It’s just the next 4 year 7 months that I still have a very pressing full time job…In Sales…as a Manager…Damn stressful…LOL…Gosh i wanna retire…
I’ve been trying to source Indar for a while here in the Hudson Valley, have the same potential issues as (and not far from) @mamuang … if I had $300+ to spend on a gallon, I certainly would, but if anyone out there is interested in splitting it 2,3,4 ways, I would be happy to order it…
Ian,
There was/is a thread someone created asking those who are interested in buying Indar to chime in. There are quite a few people who have responded.
Are you one of them?If not, you should revive that thread. There may be enough people to split now.
I do have a spray calendar. It Really helps.
No, you’re not worrying too much at all, you are just turning into a fruit tree addict.
Yes, I just posted in that thread a few days ago… no replies, though! I’m a bit of a newbie on here, so not sure how to proceed, but would be game to do the mailing, etc…
I replied to that as well but no one has said if they will take control of the buying, splitting and money collection. I would but really can’t with my schedule right now…
I need to get busy on a spray calendar I guess…I am not adverse to using chemicals if they work and won’t give me rot!! I am a pretty bad OCD type so yes I am most likely a fruit tree addict. I started this year with ZERO trees now between fruit and nuts i have 26 trees 16 blackberry plant and a dozen Elderberry…I have more bought already for when they come in next year…
