Hopefully Lazy J sets fruit for you next year. I think it’s a winner, but want to see to produce in multiple locations before I start propagating it.

It’s a pear that I was asked to custom propagate. It was growing at the “Lazy J” Ranch. The new owners had no idea of the trees history but wanted more of them. It was just growing solo in the middle of a field. I went out there to collect scion. The large tree was uncared for but very healthy with no sign of disease. Looks like an Asian or hybrid but has finer texture. Good flavor too. Frost got it this year.

Any chance you’re selling scion this year?

Yes, If I have enough scion available. I have high hopes for it. I want to see how it holds up to newer strains of FB in full production before I really start promoting it.

I’ve been looking for a cinnamon apple variety for a while and have noticed you guys are mentioning red cinnamon/punakaneli. Who are you guys getting your plants from? I can only find the ‘cinnamon spice’ apple in nurseries.

39th Parallel nursery is the only place I’ve seen Red Cinnamon

Red Cinnamon is the only apple scion I have on the list for this coming winter. Have any of you tasted the fruit?

I love red cinnamon it is one of my favorite apples. @39thparallel orchard is very close to here. Mike and i like to pick some apples and make cider or pie, fresh eating etc. He goes to a lot of work tracking these varities down.

Have to get it for sure! Your small yellow pear is also on my short list this coming spring. Got your crab tree grafted last spring in the orchard and in a wildlife planting. Very excited about these varieties.

Grafted two trees of Red Cinnamon myself. Your crabapple is the one that is hard to get. I finally got a couple sticks this year, but they only grew like an inch or two.

Sounds like Red Cinnamon and Clark’s Crab are the newest additions to my bucket list.

I know Mike and i sometimes spend hours in old records looking for a variety, location, multiple names. Once in awhile we send each other information back and forth or meet up to compare information. He grows amazing apples. Many times someone growing something may not even know what it is. My original Duchess D’ Angoulme was identified by the website owner Scott when i located it on an old farm here. We checked ripening times, growth habits, etc… Many such trees exist outside an old homestead. I was lucky with that pear many like @scottfsmith @alan knew exactly what it was. Those are resources few people have for identification.
