The year after the Cicadas

I was out today in the fruit trees doing spring pruning and I noticed a whole lot of twig dieback - most of it in the Gala apple tree. I can’t consider it a real problem on a mature tree, at least. Just pruning it off.

Yeah over the winter the damage became more apparent here.
I haven’t seen pawpaws actually die back - they seem very resilient- but the damage is so severe that I have pruned some branch tips anyway. But overall it could’ve been worse I feel

I had the most cidada damage on my hazelnut trees but they seem to go after most of my other trees as well. I hope they won’t be back this year.
