The year of the sawfly larva

Every year is a different insect. There has been years where yellow jackets are an infestation; nests everywhere, them buzzing all over the place. Another year it would be aphids, getting in plants they don’t even like most of the time. This year it has been sawfly larva. We have been having temperatures in the 20’s at night for the last two weeks or so and they are still out there munching on a jostaberry!

There was also an uptick on leaf rollers but nothing like the sawfly larva. I could count how much wild currants I had on my forest, they were all stripped down to the branches.
