Thorny rootstock of my plum?

My 3-year-old Black Ice plum is suckering heavily. I was out there today pruning all the fast-growing suckers off when I leaned my hand on the cuttings in the grass and a thorn from the suckers went into my hand. I was surprised to find that the suckers were covered with very sharp thorns. What sort of rootstock would this be? Could it be a callery pear? I’m going to be careful about not letting any suckers get started in the future.

Black Ice has shown no signs of fruiting yet.

Perhaps p Americana? Mine has big thorns that even grow on young plants. They’re about an inch long, and not thorns like roses. Kind of more like pointy sticks, lol.

I don’t know what root stock you have but I’m pretty sure it’s not callery pear.

I have Myro29C rootstock with thorns which are covered in flowers this year.

The pointy stick-thorns and profuse suckering are definitely characteristics of P. americana.
