I bought some tomato clips and stringing them up for the first time with out using the tomato cages. They turned out pretty good. No more cages for me now.

Yes, these are great, particularly if you keep the number of stems to a minimum. After the first couple of clips at the bottom, I find I can just wind the stem around the string as they grow and just put another clip every 18 inches or so to secure them which makes it faster and you use fewer clips.
Trying this vertical growing with string for the first time this year to maximize space and put in some extra varieties with the very minimal space I have with everything else. Everything is growing well so far but I’m finding it to be a tedious task with regular pruning and clipping. Next year I’ll probably give them a lot more space between plants. I put them a foot apart in this particular bed.
