Tomatoes are a fruit so I will ask here

I’ve heard of the Spanish hanging tomato that can be stored for months by hanging them .( see link below). They are called tomaquets de penjar ( hanging tomatoes)

Dos anyone here grow this variety or know where I can get some seeds here in the U.S…

I can’t answer the question but wanted to say I have hung plants in the fall with green tomatoes, and they will slowly ripen. Some varieties tend to fall off and others do not, but it does extend the season. Works best with smaller tomatoes. Not cherry but small salad tomatoes. You need to do it before any frosts.

Any of the varieties with the alc gene can be used as “hanging tomatoes”. One that you can find at Sandhill Preservation is Piennolo del Vesuvio which is from Italy. There are a few people who live in Spain who post on other forums. Tomatoville is one and Bishop’s forum another. I’ve seen mention of the hanging tomatoes on both.
